During this time of national lockdown, you may have decided it is time to do something that you have been putting off doing for a while and installing a water hole drill to your domestic or commercial land. The benefits of doing this are widespread and are overlooked when it comes to day to day life.
With the infrastructure of our national water companies at an all-time low, and with prices constantly rising in order to fix this state of disrepair, it’s not hard to see why having an autonomous, self-regulated water supply.
However, with the current climate there is no better time to install this very useful structure. A water borehole drill is something you will benefit from for years to come, and we here at Teckna Group are here to tell you why…
A water borehole is relatively self explanatory. Essentially, it’s a deep hole that’s drilled into the ground to connect to a water source, so that the water can then be extracted and used.
Unlike more ‘conventional’ water sources that link up to a broader water network, with a water borehole, you’re responsible for all of the relevant infrastructure, from the borehole itself to extraction pumps and water quality testing.
There are a few convincing reasons to invest in a water borehole, some of which will be more or less relevant depending on your specific circumstances.
Everyone would like to know that they are using the best quality water, right? Not only from a peace of mind standpoint, knowing that you are using the best standard as possible, but also in regard to your safety. It is well documented low quality water can be unsafe for drinking and general use, sometimes causing serious illness. However, by water borehole drilling you are able to source high quality water giving you no worries that the water you are using is lower than the standard.
We will make sure that the necessary tests are made to make sure that the water is of drinking quality by testing the water produced at a UKAS laboratory for both chemical and bacterial analysis.
In most cases, our initial tests on the quality of the raw groundwater will show that there are some impurities that need to be eliminated. Based on those tests, we will be able to design and install a customised pump that brings the water source up to the highest standard possible. You can rest assured that this is the quality that your water will remain at, based on regular testing both at source and at the tap.
As well as providing you with high quality water, borehole drilling helps you to have a constant flow of water, all year round. This means that if we hit a particularly cold patch or a period that is so hot that there may be a water shortage, you can be assured that you will continue to have a water supply to your domestic or commercial property.
If you are working at a facility where water is used regularly, then water bore drilling is a way of making sure that you are never stuck without a water supply, which could possibly put your work on hold as a result.
For the relatively low fixed sum that these boreholes cost, you will then be able to benefit from this consistency for the foreseeable future, so long as the system is maintained properly and the water source isn’t over-extracted.
Everyone wants to save money where they can, right? It’s a natural instinct and one that will allow you to focus your spending in other areas. By installing a water borehole drill, you will be saving a lot of money on water bills by switching from the mains to borehole drilling, allowing you to re-budget more efficiently. If you make the purchase of installing a borehole water filter, we can assure you that you soon enough make the money back and more than you paid for the installation, so you will end up saving money in the long term!
It could also be worth doing some basic calculations, to determine a rough time frame for your ROI. Look at your annual water costs at the moment, averaging them out over a few years, and then compare that cost to the investment necessary for a borehole. Obviously, the more water you use, the faster you’ll see a complete ROI.
In certain contexts, such as manufacturing, you may find that you need access to a very specific and consistent quality of water. While it’s possible that a water company might be able to provide that, it does mean that you’re left exposed to any issues that crop up on their side of things, and given the current state of water delivery infrastructure in this country, issues are almost to be expected.
With your own water borehole and processing unit, you have complete control over all of this. You can test the water source, and then adapt your filtration system so that it’s capable of delivering water at a purity that works for your specific needs.
If anything goes wrong, you’re not left at the whim of a third party. You can have your own engineers fix the issue, and implement your own safeguards to ensure access to secondary water sources while you sort out any issues.
As you’d likely expect, having a water borehole installed involves a fair bit of work, but it might not take quite as long as you’d think.
The first step is to have a hydrogeological survey carried out. This will be used to assess the kind of substance that needs to be drilled through, and the presence of water.
Based on this survey, you’ll know what kind of tools will be needed to complete the borehole, the amount of water that can be sustainably extracted from the borehole, the quality of that water, and the depth of borehole that will be necessary to reach the water source (should one exist).
To complete these tests, especially water testing and extraction, the borehole may already need to have been drilled.
Based on the results of the hydrogeological survey, you can arrange to have the borehole drilled.
Depending on the depth of the groundwater, the borehole could need to be anywhere between 6m and 200m in depth. In most cases, the actual drilling won’t take much more than 2 days to complete.
Once the borehole has been drilled, you’ll need to install some additional infrastructure to get the water out of the ground, treat it, and deliver it to where it needs to be.
This will involve some kind of pump system, a pipe that goes down into the subterranean water source, and then a filtration and testing system that sits above ground.
